Maryanne Ford; LPN, RYT, CPI,

Maryanne is a Licensed Practical Nurse working locally for a Pediatric Homecare Agency. Though working with children is her first passion, Maryanne has vast experience with people of all ages and diagnoses spanning her thirty two year career. Her strong background in Rehabilitation Nursing gives Maryanne a unique understanding of how the body moves and what will improve upon those movements. From the healthcare perspective, she continually adds holistic healing modalities to her credentials. While she can appreciate the benefits of modern medicine, she also strongly believes in the body's own healing and wellness potentials. She considers herself to be a practitioner of Integrative Healthcare, combining her traditional nursing skills with what she has learned from Eastern-based mind/body disciplines along the way.
This exploration of Eastern-based disciplines began in 2001 when Maryanne began studying martial arts through Milford Tae Kwon Do and is currently an AAU registered 2nd Dan Black Belt. In the same year she began practicing, then teaching yoga. In 2004, she completed a Mat Pilates Certification Training Course through the Professional Health and Fitness Institute and can be found listed on their website, www.prohealthandfitness.com . Later that year she extended her yoga practice to include children with developmental disabilities, adapting and modifying poses individually. In 2005, she completed a 280 hour Yoga Teacher's Training through Yoga Synthesis in New Jersey under Raji Thron and Ellen Pfeffer. The following year she completed Sonia Sumar's 'Yoga for the Special Child'™ yoga therapy basic level certification.
From this training she launched her own "Child's Pose Therapeutic Yoga" program servicing developmentally disabled and medically fragile children and adults in the tri state area. . Maryanne’s Yoga Therapy was more suited to the special medical needs of her clientele which combined her nursing skills with her yoga training. Maryanne has since become certified in Reiki Levels I and II as a nursing intervention through the Robert Woods Johnson Hospital's Wellness Center in New Jersey under Pamela Jones, RN, Integrative Healthcare Director.
Most recently Maryanne, along with her husband, Eric, has become a 'T'ai Chi Easy Facilitator'™ under Roger Jahnke, DO, at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. She has also completed level one of ‘Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy’ Professional Certification Program. Maryanne is registered with the Yoga Alliance and can be found listed on their website, www.yogaalliance.org.
Locally, she can be found co-teaching an Adapted Swim Class for children with Developmental Disabilities where she gets to combine her love of the water with her nursing background. She is an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Maryanne lives in Milford, PA with her husband, Eric, and three sons.
